The Boogeyman (1980)
Review by Jeff

Directed by: Ulli Lommel

Starring:
Suzanna Love/Lacey
Nicholas Love/Willy
Ron James/Jake
John Carradine/Dr. Warren

Plot:
Willy is a young boy who takes bloody revenge on his mother’s abusive boyfriend by sneaking up on him in bed and savagely stabbing him in the back, while his sister Lacey watches in the mirror. The boyfriend is dead but he’ll be back. Years later, the adult Willy and Lacey find that same mirror. The mirror is shattered, with supernatural and horrifically terrifying results.

Acting:
The acting in this film is ok, Suzanna Love(Lacey) was good and seemed to put a lot of effort in her role, Nicholas Love(Willy) didn’t really say anything through the whole movie so yea not a lot to say about him, Ron James(Jake) seemed kind of like a ass and I didn’t really care to much for his role.

Gore:
The gore was pretty good when used, we get some stabbing, scissors to the neck, neck crushed by a window, a sweet screwdriver death scene, and a few other things.

T & A:
Nope nothing here.

Directing:
Ulli had a couple slick and creepy camera shots here and there, and also liked to use the first person aspect when could.

Soundtrack:
We had a ok score but I wouldn’t say it really helped with the feel of the movie at all.

Final thoughts:
I was thinking this was going to be your typical 80’s slasher film, and that’s what I wanted it to be but no it was like a slasher film, mixed with a possession flick. I wasn’t to big on this movie it was pretty boring most of time and just didn’t seem well put together, there were some cool death scenes but that’s about all it offered. I give it a 4/10.
