Jenifer (2005)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Dario Argento
Starring:
Carrie Anne Fleming/Jenifer
Steven Weber/Frank
Brenda James/Ruby
Cynthia Garris/Rose
Plot:
While parked in a remote spot eating Chinese food with his partner, detective Frank Spivey saves a disfigured woman Jenifer from being sliced with a cleaver by a deranged homeless man. He feels sorry for Jenifer, and takes her from an insane asylum and brings her home. Frank becomes obsessed for Jenifer, feeling lust and attraction for her body. When he realizes that she is a human beast, he moves with her to an isolated old cabin in the woods, with tragic consequences.
Acting:
The acting in this movie was pretty good, Carrie Anne Fleming(Jenifer) was real good as this animalistic type of person that was crazy, Steven Weber(Frank) was also good and believable as the cop trying to do something good.
Gore:
The gore was well done, we get some gunshots, a cat being ate, lots of guts eaten, some off screen stuff, and a good old strangling.
T & A:
We get two pairs here, Jenny wasn’t too shy and shows us them in about every scene she is in.
Directing:
This isn’t like a lot of Argento’s stuff, we don’t a lot of the cool colors, and slick shots, but the movie looks real nice, and the make up effects looked great.
Soundtrack:
The score was awesome, we get some older sounding stuff almost like a old Hitchcock film, and then some other dreamlike stuff that sounds great, Claudio Simonetti is the man.
Final thoughts:
Jenifer was a very odd but well done story, I felt like is was a good short movie with a cool ending that could keep the story going,. The acting was good, and the effects were awesome, add in a kick ass score and you have a well made movie. It’s not my favorite of Dario’s stuff but I would say if you like the Masters Of Horror series give this one a look. I give it a 6/10
