Frankenhooker (1990)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Frank Henenlotter
Starring:
James Lorinz/Jeffrey
Patty Mullen/Elizabeth
Joseph Gonzalez/Zorro
Louise Lasser/ Jeff’s Mom
Plot:
A medical school dropout loses his fiancée in a tragic lawnmower incident, and decides to bring her back. Unfortunately, he was only able to save her head, so he goes to the red light district in the city and lures prostitutes into a hotel room so he can get parts for his girlfriend.
Acting:
The acting was ok but it was pretty much just one main person in the film, James Lorinz(Jeffrey) did a nice job with his role as the mad scientist and he was very believable, Patty Mullen(Elizabeth) was ok but wasn’t in the movie much, the cast were just people getting blown up.
Gore:
I was pretty let down here, I thought there would some cool scenes of girls getting hacked up but no all we get are a bunch of prostitutes getting blown up by radioactive crack, other than that we get a drill to the head, some off screen stuff, and a head cut off.
T & A:
The title should let you know we are going to get something here, I think about 8 pairs of breasts, I lost cont at one time.
Directing:
Frank did a ok job with the cool lighting, but to me this movie looked older than what it is, to me it looks like a mid 80’s flick, we also get some cool special effects at the end of the film.
Soundtrack:
We get a cool pretty hokey score that makes the flick seem fun.
Final thoughts:
I went into Frankenhooker thinking it would be a lot like Blood Diner or one of those movie like that, and in a way it was but without a lot of the good comedy, we get some dark humor at times but most of the time it was bland and boring. The acting was ok but the gore was real bad and they could have made it a lot better and been more creative about stuff. I would say give it rent and see what you think for yourself. I give it a 5/10.
