Death Proof
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Quentin Tarantino
Starring:
Kurt Russell/Stuntman Mike
Rosario Dawson/Abernathy
Sydney Tamiia Poitier/Jungle Julia
Tracie Thomas/Kim
Plot:
Two separate pairs of voluptuous women are stalked at different times by a scarred stuntman who uses his "death proof" cars to execute his murderous plans.
Acting:
The acting in this film is amazing there are so many people to talk about so I will break down the 4 main people that stood out to me. Kurt Russell(Stuntman Mike was awesome like always he did a badass job playing one creepy dude, Sydney Poitier(Jungle Julia) was real good as the tough girl on the outside but hides that she has a soft side to her throughout the film, Tracie Thomas(Kim) was great as the hard ass black woman that don’t give a fuck, and Rosario Dawson(Abernathy) I will admit was spot on in the small role she had. Also look out for a few cameos by Quentin Tarantino and his new sidekick Eli Roth.
Gore:
The isn’t to much gore here but we do get a killer car accident scene, and a nice ending that get a little nasty.
T & A:
None of that stuff here, but the ladies get Kurt Russell’s awesome scar.
Directing:
Tarantino amazed me again, I would say this is his best work even better than Kill Bill, he really made this look and feel like a old grind house flick, everything from the graininess, to the rough cuts it was just badass.
Soundtrack:
This soundtrack is killer we get some 70’s rock music, the awesome thing about Tarantino is he seems to find this great music that we never here much he never uses like the typical most popular music of that era. The score is great to it fits great to a lot of the scenes.
Final thoughts:
Wow that’s all I have to say is wow, Death Proof blew me away, this film has amazing acting, one of the best car chase scenes I have seen in a long time, but I think what makes this film great is the build up of characters and how he uses dialogue so well, not to mention how fucking badass Kurt Russell is in this. I give this film a 10/10.
