Critters 4 (1991)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Rupert Harvey
Starring:
Don Keith Opper/Charlie
Paul Whitthorne/Ethan
Brad Dourif/Al Bert
Angela Bassett/Fran
Plot:
Just before bounty hunter Charlie triggers his gun to destroy the last two Critter-eggs, he gets a message that it would be illegal to extinguish the race from the galaxy. He's sent a transporter where he puts the eggs - unfortunately the transporter takes him with it and then gets lost in space. After 53 deep-frozen years, he's found by a private wreckage collector team under the unscrupulous Rick. On behalf of the mighty company Terracor they bring him to an empty space station - but Rick is curious and opens the box... so Charlie has work again, to keep the Critters from eating everybody.
Acting:
The acting is ok here for a b movie, Don Keith Opper(Charlie) was spot on like in the other 3 films, and Angela Bassett(Fran) was good as the badass chic, she tends to play that role good in most of the movies she is in.
Gore:
We don’t really get much here just some critters biting, and a gunshot to the head, pretty standard for the Critters movie.
T & A:
Not much unless your into shirtless critter action.
Directing:
Rupert Harvey did a ok job here, the effects are pretty bad kind of like the older full moon movies, but it’s pretty cool to go back and see what was considered state of the art for it’s time.
Soundtrack:
We get a space western type of score, it was pretty cool and different.
Final thoughts:
Critters 4 was kind of dull, you didn’t really get to see them much in this film, and man the gore was missing big time here, I would say go back and watch the first 3 movies they are a lot better, but if you really like the Critters series give it a watch. I give this film a 3/10.
